NPI Prepares Customers for Supply-Chain Shocks Following Earthquake in Japan

Production shortages are affecting companies all over the world as a result of the March 11th earthquake in Japan. One-fifth of the world’s production of semiconductors is located in Japan and companies such as Hirose, Microchip, TDK and Texas Instruments have reported supply-chain impacts. Upon receiving the news, NPI reviewed all customer BOMs in anticipation of these shortages and immediately informed customers of the programs that would be affected. NPI then aggressively procured potential problem parts based on year end forecasts provided by customers and successfully met customer schedules by avoiding the impending lead-times in the global supply-chain.
