NPI Mission Mixes Technology, Peace Corps & Philanthropy (November 27, 2012)

NPI founder and president, Judy Greenspon prefers to give “in kind” donations to grass roots projects in developing countries and low income communities in Southern California.  Her latest mission was inspired last year when she attended the 50th Anniversary of the Peace Corps in Washington, DC and met former Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) Sam Goldman. Sam received the 2011 Sargent Shriver Award for his success and innovation as a social entrepreneur. Sam and Ned Tozun met at Stanford and co-founded d.light Design (https://www.dlight.com/), a company that develops low cost solar lamps to replace dangerous and costly kerosene and candle traditional light sources.

This holiday giving season Judy will be traveling to Belize to donate d.light Solar Lamps with PCVs Taylor Munz and Mallory Michaelson.  The lamps will be distributed between a Mayan women’s group and coastal fisherman.  Follow Judy on NPI’s Facebook page during her journey to Belize as she rekindles her spirit as a former PCV (1980-1983 Philippines).
